The Legacy and True Value of Historically Black Colleges & Universities

Saturday, December 14, 2013

10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m

Wayne County Community College District - Western Campus

College Representatives and alumni from various Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) will speak with teens about the unique HBCU experience. Speakers will give interactive group information about the admission process, program majors, campus housing, financial aid and other relevant information, including a panel discussion!

Participants will:

• Learn about the rich legacy of our nation’s great Historically Black Colleges and Universities and their valuable contribution to society

• Have an opportunity to find out about the benefits of attending HBCU’s

• Gain insight into the critical admissions requirements and qualifications, tuition cost and out-of-state student support services

I wanted to take a moment to update you on our Winter Activities. We have:
·         FREE ACT/SAT/PSAT/Plan/Explorer Practice Tests on
o   Special Drop in Days (10am-2pm): Dec 30 & 31, Jan 2 & 3
o   January 4, 2014
o   February 1, 2014
o   March 1, 2014
·         ACT or SAT test prep for all High School Students
o   Have you seen our College Roadmap?  Available to all High School Students and Parents.
·         Homework help in all subjects
·         Specialist available for AP and IB classes
·         Learning Skills that include: Studies Skills, Test Taking Skills, Time Management, and Note Taking
·         NEW: College Planning, Career Assessment, or Essay Writing for Juniors and Seniors.
 
Please find the enclosed flyers for our January 4th, February and March 1st ACT/SAT/PSAT practice tests.  I also have collected statistics on the results of your students and their ACT scores for 2013.  If you have not received your copy, please let me know and I will resend.
