A message from Wittenberg University

9/30/2013

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to visit Washtenaw International High School!  I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with a few students and talking about Wittenberg.  I was so impressed with WI, and the strong caliber of students you have!  There were a few main things that seemed to excite the students I spoke with that I thought I would share with you!

The Wittenberg size and classroom experience

Wittenberg is a small, liberal arts university of 1800 students in Springfield, Ohio.  What does this mean?  It means you have incredible opportunities!  With all PhD faculty and an average classroom size of 16-19 students, Wittenberg students have an abundance of options for hands-on experiences.  Our professors are incredibly accessible and love to get to know their students.  In fact, we were ranked fourth in the nation for Most Accessible Professors by the Princeton Review!

Wittenberg Academic Offerings

Our campus has top programs for Biology, Business and Education.  Not only that, but we offer 80 other majors, minors and programs!  We also have partnerships with other universities such as 3-2 programs in Engineering (Case Western Reserve & Columbia University), Environmental Studies (Duke University), and Occupational Therapy (Washington University).  We also offer a 3-4 program in Nursing with Case Western.  These programs allow students to earn a degree from Wittenberg in 3 years, and then go on to the partnering university to earn either an additional bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree.  All of our degrees and course offerings can be found on our website at www.wittenberg.edu

Bill Martin Scholarship

Last, but certainly not least, is the Bill Martin Scholarship!  This is a full-tuition scholarship awarded to a student residing in Washtenaw County, Michigan.  Students must apply for Wittenberg Admission and for the Bill Martin Scholarship by the Early Action I deadline of December 1st.  You can find more information online at http://www5.wittenberg.edu/admission/scholarship/martin.html .

I look forward to working with many WIHI students within the next few years, and I invite you all to come visit our campus!  I work with all Michigan students and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.  You can contact me at 937-327-6317 or at ellisk@wittenberg.edu.

Explore Antioch College.  Be a Catalyst for Change.

9/30/2013

Greetings, WIHI students!

I'm Jillian Johnson, admission counselor and campus visit coordinator at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Antioch College is a small, private, academically rigorous college that takes an innovative approach to the liberal arts. We emphasize interdisciplinary and experiential learning, and all of our students engage in four Co-ops (full time work experiences) over their four years of study. Through Co-op and our rigorous experiential curriculum, Antioch students are empowered as agents of change prepared to tackle local, national, and global issues.

Originally founded in 1850, Antioch College closed for three years and reopened in 2011, so students who join our community in the next few years have the unique chance to help rebuild a 160-year-old liberal arts college. This opportunity is not for everyone, but I know that as pioneers at your own recently opened school, you understand the great rewards that can come from helping an institution chart new territory.

If you're interested in learning more about Antioch College, I encourage you
to fill out an Information Request on our website or send me an email at

jillianjohnson@antiochcollege.org. I would also like to invite you all to our upcoming admission open house, Celebrate Diversity at Antioch, on Monday, October 14 (Columbus Day).

Best regards,

Jillian
