2021-2022 WIMA Admissions Information:
We are excited to announce that the 2021-2022 school year application opens Monday, November 9th at 9am and will close on Friday, February 26th at midnight for both WIHI and WIMA.
Family Info Nights:
Due to current CDC guidelines, we will be hosting virtual Middle School and High School Family Info Night sessions this year.
WIMA's Virtual Middle School Info Night Session will be held on Monday, Dec. 14th at 6:30pm. Please click the link below to register to attend this online event: https://bit.ly/WIMAOpenHouse2020
2021-2022 Application Process:
Step 1: Complete Online Application:
The online application must have 2020-2021 current grades and a completed discipline form from current school. The discipline form can be found on the application.
Step 2: Student Support Documents:
To help eliminate the need/requirement for dropping off student support documents in person, these documents must be attached to the application. 2021-2022 forms are linked on the application and will be linked to the website once the application goes live.
Families will be prompted to attach these documents as they complete the application with a jpeg or pdf file only. Families who do not have all their documents ready when they are completing their application can save their progress and come back to finish it later.
Step 3: Student placement testing:
While testing is important and students should try their best, placement testing does not determine acceptance. Placement tests helps us determine class placement and if any summer and/or school support is required prior to attending.
The placement testing dates for incoming WIMA students are: March 4th & 11th from 5pm-8pm. With guidance from the local health department and if it is safe to do so, testing will be in person, socially distanced (over 6 feet apart), masked, and indoors with windows open for ventilation. If it is not safe to do so, we may also offer virtual testing. Updates to follow in February.
Families will be able to register for one placement testing day once their application is submitted. There will be a pop-up window with a link and it will also be linked on the submission confirmation email families will receive immediately after their application is submitted. All students applying for WIMA are required to complete placement testing.
WIMA Students will be tested on Math, Reading and Writing. All students are given 3 hrs to complete their testing, though most students complete the test well before the time limit.
Students who may need additional accommodations, must include a copy of their IEP or 504 plan on the application. We will contact those families a week before their testing date to confirm accommodations.
Once all three steps have been completed, students will have a complete application and will then be entered into our lottery system.
Current YIES students, WIMA/WIHI siblings and WEOC Employees are given priority placement when applying to WIHI and/or WIMA.
Lottery results will be emailed to families by 6pm on Friday, April 9th and families will have 48hrs to accept or decline their spot. If a family does not respond via email within 48hrs or declines their seat, that student will be dropped and we will move on to the next student on the waitlist. This will continue until all spots have been filled, up to the first week of October of 2021.
Families will receive email updates throughout the process, after the lottery takes place, to help keep families informed and supported through the application and enrollment process.
If you have any questions about the application process, please feel free to contact our Admissions and Enrollment Manager, Kelly Cartwright: KCartwright@wihi.org.
