It is my distinct honor to direct Gettysburg College's newest summer program, the American Government Leadership Camp. This unique program is built on the tradition of the President Dwight D. Eisenhower's commitment to public service and exemplary leadership attributes.
The college-level summer program is designed for highly motivated high school students (rising juniors and seniors) who have a passion for understanding American government and who wish to refine their leadership skills. The intensive program presents student leaders with challenging real-world situations and exposure to cutting edge political science scholarship.
Participants attend college-level lectures (delivered by myself and other professors), engage in small discussion sessions, and participate in debates and simulations. Students attend a field-trip to Washington D.C., interact with public policy leaders, and tour the historic Civil War battlegrounds of Gettysburg.
The week-long program takes place from June 29-July 6, 2014 on Gettysburg College's picturesque campus in the historic town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Applicants to the program should have a demonstrated record of leadership, a strong academic record, and a sincere interest in deepening their understanding of American politics.
