- COUNSELOR RECOMMENDATION: Complete and submit the Request for Counselor's Confidential Recommendation Letter (aka "The Purple Sheet") by Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.. This will enable your counselor to WRITE your letter and include a bevy of positive, personal stories from folks who know you well. Additionally, you will need to list your counselor's name and email address on all college applications. This will enable your counselor to SUBMIT your letter.
- TEACHER RECOMMENDATION: Determine the single best teacher to write a recommendation for you. Prepare a brag sheet or resume, and give it to the teacher (in person or electronically) when you ask if they are able to write a positive recommendation for you. Be prepared to answer additional questions from that teacher to help make the letter great. Provide written instructions and an agreed-upon date for submission.
- ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS: Do not ask a second teacher or faculty member for a recommendation. Faculty members have been instructed to decline such requests in order to ensure that we meet the required one letter standard for each student in need. If you are applying to a college that requires more than one teacher recommendation, schedule a meeting with your counselor
As discussed at the class meeting on June 8, college recommendation season is here for the Class of 2016! Since every Common Application college requires a teacher and counselor recommendation, we expect every IB senior to request recommendations. Here's how:
